This post is primarily intended for my Mom
My intrepid mother managed to order me a gift certificate from a nice restaurant in Singapore for my birthday... so 3 months later Kia & I finally managed to go out and celebrate it just as 2009 was coming to a close (and the gift certificate was going to expire soon).
The restaurant is called "Flutes at the Fort" and is hidden in a section of Fort Canning that is extremely difficult to find - and if you pass the entrance, your taxi has to circle the entire park for you to get another shot. So several mis-guided taxi rides later, Kia & I both arrived at the secluded entrance and made our way up the stairs to the restaurant.

It was a refined atmosphere, and the place was decked out for Christmas, with a tree, wreaths, various ornaments... and complimentary acapella singers.
It was a nice touch for the holidays but I must admit I was initially displeased with the interruption to my feast.
So what did we eat? The Chef's table! The set menu had all of the things on the menu we wanted to try - including the obligatory chocolate lava cake - Kia's favorite dessert.
So we celebrated my birthday and Christmas in the same dinner.
Thanks Mom!
